I made Branching Out once before in the year I learned to knit. I think it was one of the first scarves I made, for my mother. A scratchy, off-white acrylic yarn, and I ended up making it too short, but it was still long enough (especially for her, she doesn’t like long scarves much). [...]

Yarn in Masan
Posted in Blog, Crochet, Finished Objects, Korea, Yarn on February 11, 2009 | 1 Comment »
This is a post that could also go to my other blog, Live from Masan. Since it’s about yarn, it’s going here.
I haven’t been knitting or crocheting very much. I came with some Patons Canadiana (to make mitts, though now it’s too warm to wear them. One is finished), and some Bernat Cot’n Corn. [...]
End of September
Posted in Blog, Crochet, Finished Objects, Knitting, Yarn on September 30, 2008 | 3 Comments »
I’m not sure why September is my favourite month. I think it’s because my birthday is September 18th, but I never *do* anything interesting on it. Nothing really happens. I mean sure, I get cards and presents occasionally, and I had a great birthday here with Beatrice and Brett, but it wasn’t something that couldn’t [...]

I need to be boxed up today. That or put on my stationary bike to work off the massive amounts of hyperactivity I have. It’s not coffee or anything, though I did have my usual cup this morning, and a little dark chocolate, and 1 dark chocolate-covered nut of some sort (I think [...]
Black Diamond

I was just listening Episode 60 of the Lime and Violet Podcast, and near the end they were looking at an etsy site (Gaslight Dyeworks, the username is yarnzombie). That person doesn’t have any 100% vegan fibers, but they mentioned how one of her rovings contained something called Black Diamond, which is carbonized bamboo.
I [...]

Dying Soy-Acrylic Yarn
Posted in Yarn on January 20, 2008 | 4 Comments »
Quite a while ago, maybe a year or more, Bernat surprised me by coming out with a line of new acrylic blends. One of them was Soy, which is 50% soy and 50% acrylic. It’s a little thinner than worsted weight and has a nice feel to it, but unfortunately, the colours are blah. Off-white, [...]
A Few Things

I’ve finished a couple of small things since my last post. One is a pair of gloves, the pattern is a mod of Urban Necessity from Magknits. They’re supposed to be a flip-top mitten, so that you can have fingerless gloves for when you need your fingers, and mittens for when you don’t, all in [...]
